Super Affordable Junior's Website: urban1972.com

I just put away my Summer outfits and replaced them with my Fall Jackets and outerwear.  Although I was not impressed with this Fall's trends and looks (not loving the very 70's vibe going on everywhere and the crazy busy navajo and ikat prints seen everywhere,) I still look forward to the layering opportunities that the cold weather will bring.  What I will wear that are this Fall's trends are pops of red and leopard prints.  I will mix it with my love of horizontal stripes.  I'll also give color-blocking a try.

As I perused the September issues of magazines, I came across a fluffy white jacket being sold on a Website called Urban 1972.  Sienna Miller was photographed wearing a similar white fluffy jacket by designer Isabel Marant.  The much less expensive version being sold on urban1972.com for $32.90 is already sold out.  BOOOOOOO, but I'm glad I have a similar one that I bought last Fall from sears.com .

Urban 1972 offers clothing and accessories for juniors (or adults like me who haven't quite grown up or foster a young spirit.)  Most of the items are under $100. and many are under $50.  Great for any fashion-forward individuals on a budget.  However, not everything on the site is fab.  You have to sift through the site to find items worth buying.  There are plenty of finds though.  Check out some of the items I've placed on my Wish list.

Love & Peace T-shirt ($9.99)

Laissez Faire Pants ($32.90)

Clocked In Watch ($12.50)

Music is Over the Rainbow T ($12.99)

Faux Fur Bolero Brown ($40.)

Nicky Leopard Leggings Blue ($22.)
Their sizes are S, M and L.  I couldn't find a size chart anywhere on the site;  I'm praying I fit into the L.  We'll see when I place an order and receive the shipment ...

Coats to Covet This Fall

Going over the Fall collections today on Style.com, I was a tad underwhelmed.  I know, I know, it's September 1st and I'm just looking at the Fall collections now!  Well, to be honest, I was bogged down with school and getting my applications in order for Nursing programs.  I was not thinking about fashion as much as I normally do.  So I'm going through Style.com, and I am not digging the color theme this Fall 2011 -- a very 70's color palette.  I noticed it with the Fall collection that came at the Gap (one of my part-time jobs,) and there were a lot of plums, pumpkin orange, warm browns.  With many of the collections from Milan to New York featuring a 70's color palette, I am not so upset at myself for looking at the collections so late in the season.  But let me try to focus on the positive.  The first thing I saw that truly loved was a coat from Imitation.  After that, I was inspired by coats and jackets.  I won't get to wear them that much being that I live in Miami, and it gets cold here about five times a year, but what the hoot.  I'll write about the coats that I would love to have but can't afford and so will have to find a similar looking, lower-end copy.

Kicking off my list of coats to covet is this number by Imitation, designed by Tara Subkoff.
Imitation Fall 2011
I love the ease and shape of it, and it is something that I could actually wear in Miami when the temperature drops to 60 degrees.  The short sleeves will not allow for overeating.  I would love to wear this with a black crewneck sweater and black cropped slim pants.  Shoes will most likely be flats.

Next up is a teal coat by a brand I haven't heard much from called Willow.  Their Fall collection was one that I actually liked.  I found it edgy, yet very wearable.
Willow Fall 2011
This one is relaxed as well but it has good shape and structure.  It looks like it would be slimming.  I especially like the unique underarm vents.  Again, something that might fly on a somewhat cold day in Miami, yet would still be appropriate to wear in New York or other colder places in the US, with the exception of Minnesota.

The next coat I list is the head of the pack when it comes to the trend of mixed-materials for this Fall, and it is Prada's python coat with a green fur collar.
Prada Fall 2011
It certainly looks modern without trying too hard to look modern.  It just is very now.  Even though pea green is a color of the 70's, this coat does not give me a 70's vibe at all.

Here is another Prada number to covet.
Prada Fall 2011

The following coats I list are of the fur or faux fur variety.  Animal lovers, don't hate me.  Remember I can't buy any of these;  I am merely appreciating the beauty of design.  Uh hmnnn...  Without further ado...

The following two are great outerwear choices from Matthew Williamson to get your black and white fix.  I would die for either one of these -- they fit my fashion personality totally !
Matthew Williamson Fall 2011

Matthew Williamson Fall 2011
I live for black and white stripes, and these two coats do it for me!

The next two are fun little numbers from a designer on a meteoric rise, Prabal Gurung.  These coats are to die for, for sure!
Prabal Gurung Fall 2011

Prabal Gurung Fall 2011
These colors are delicious and both these coats look so fun and fluffy, not to mention  GLAMOROUS!!!  I luv, I luv.

I would die for any of these coats, but one that I might actually conspire, aspire, and willing to starve for is the first one I listed -- the one by Imitation.  It just looks like something I can wear until I die of old age, and you know how old people get cold easily, so I can literally wear it every winter until I die of old age.  That should justify the cost.

Missoni for Target. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR !!!

I  was reading the September issue of People StyleWatch and saw the one-page highlight of the upcoming designer collaboration coming to a Target near you.  I can't believe Missoni is collaborating with Target.  Of course, I am super excited!  I can't afford a regular Missoni sock, and to think on September 13th when the line debuts online and in-store, I will actually be able to afford a whole outfit -- I am over the moon!

I was super stoked when Jean Paul Gaultier did his collaboration with Target, and I have been waiting a long time for the next designer collaboration.  It's been since March of 2010 that the Jean Paul Gaultier collection for Target came out.  Krikey, that's more than a year and a half ago!  I don't consider the collaboration with William Rast a big deal which came out during the holidays of 2010.  It was eh...  Finally, another real designer collaboration for Target is coming our way.

Missoni for Target boasts a 400 piece collection featuring clothes for women, men, girls and babies.  There will also be accessories, housewares, linens and a bicycle?  Wow, a bicycle too!  That is so kRazee !!!  Of course the pieces will be affordable with prices ranging from $2.99 for a 4-pack melamine appetizer plates (that is sooooo affordable) to $599.99 for a 4-peice patio sectional furniture.  This collection is massively impressive.

I am so blown away by this collection.  I hope I get some of the pieces I want in time because I am sure many items will sell out.  Missoni for Target will be available until October 22 in-store or until supplies run out.  Some online exclusive items will have an extended run until early December.

I hope those eBay resellers don't hog up this collection and leave some for some real Target shoppers like me.  I'd hate to find out how much of this collection is going to end up in the secondary market with hiked up prices.  YIKES !  I know that is going to be crazy.

So what do I have my heart set on you ask?  Well, the Missoni for Target Space-Dye Knit Cardigan  for $44.99 and Space-Dye Sleeveless Sweater $29.99 is a must.  I hope to get my hands on all three of the silk scarves selling for $19.99 each and some of the tights for $16.00.  I hope to get a couple sets of those appetizer plates -- that will be great for a party.  The rest, I'll just have to see what I can get my hands on in my size.

This is sure going to add up, but oh it will be so worth it.

To view the collection, visit Missoni for Target LOOKBOOK .  Prices for items in each look are featured.

Make-up Inspiration for Summer 2011: A BRIGHT LIP

When it is hot, like it is now, as it is Summer in the U.S., you probably don't want to wear a lot of make-up.  I live in Miami, so it is very HOT, and the last thing I want to do is put on gobs of make-up.  The solution to maintaining a pulled together look without a lot of make-up is a bright lip.  LUCKY MAGAZINE shows us how celebs pull off this look.

You can easily pull off this look by keeping your face clean:  just moisturizer with a minimum SPF 15 (if you have really good skin,) or a tinted moisturizer with SPF (if you have moderate good skin,) or a liquid foundation of your choice, on top of moisturizer with SPF (if you have some imperfections you'd like to cover up.)  Go ahead and apply your choice of bright lip color.  Add a cheek stain -- a little will go a long way, since you don't want your cheeks to compete with your lips.  (I prefer a cheek stain over blush because it looks much more natural.  Blush is powdery and sits on top of your skin -- it can look obvious.)  If you want to add an extra touch, go ahead and apply some mascara.  Remember to keep it simple -- the bright lip will be plenty to look at.  No need for eye shadow, and definitely do not mix with a smokey eye.

Starting this Spring, a bright pink or an orangey-red has been very on-trend.  I love this look, and I have been wearing it out since then.  I mention it on a previous blog, Fabulous Inexpensive Lipstick: Covergirl Lip Perfection.  This has been my go-to look, especially when I am in a rush or just plain lazy.  Give it a try.  You're going to love that it takes little time to look so pulled together.  Mwuahhh & Kisses...

Limited Edition TRUE BLOOD Cosmetics by Tarte

Already available online is Tarte's collaboration with "True Blood" creators and on-set lead make-up artist, Brigette Myre-Ellis.  Perfect for tomorrow's season premiere of Season 4 on HBO.

Launched on June 22nd, this is a Limited Edition Collection, so be sure to grab your vampire-inspired beauty products before it runs out.  There is an eye-shadow palette (perfect for smoky eyes and lurking in the dark,) a cheek tint and a lip tint (both blood-red.)

True Blood by Tarte is available at Sephora.comIt is not available on the HBO-True Blood Homepage!  I checked.  I don't know why not.  They sell everything from the actual True Blood drink to Fangtasia bar stools.

Tarte uses all-natural ingredients.  Although I have never used any Tarte products, I will gamble that it is good.  The cheek and lip tint are priced mid to high-end at $30 and $24 respectively.  The eye-shadow palette is the real buy at $52.  It is a kit valued at $331 and comes with 17 eye-shadows, an aqua-gel eye liner, a mascara, and an eye primer.  I'll be buying this for sure!  Don't need the cheek and lip tint as I am fully stocked on red cheek stain and many, many red lipsticks.

I'm looking forward to doing a smokey eye for Fall, so the Tarte for True Blood Limited Edition Palette will be perfect !!!

OMGosh. THIS IS SO FIERCE !!! Raja's New Music Video.

So fierce that I had to do a second blog post for the day.  This is rare, since I have been uninspired and preoccupied this year.  Don't think that I don't have a life, and that I'm on my computer all day.  O.K.  So I don't have a life.  Well, I wasn't on the computer all day on my day off.  I did just work out for 2 and 1/2 hours.  Hellooo...

Anyyyyyyyhoooo, the music isn't all that, but the VISUALS !  OH, THE VISUALS !!!  Not the slutty, oversexed images, but the fashion and the make-up and the plastic wigs.  Oh, so fahhhhboohhhhhlooossssss!  If you are a prude, I suggest you NOT watch this.  If you love fabulocity in all levels and genders, then please do.

Did you see Raja's armpits???  I mean, how does she get it that smooth?  Did she put make-up on that?  I am so hating on her armpits right now.  I am soooooo jelly!

I do love me some drag queens, honey!  Raja is fab.  And Raven is oh so FAB -- my favorite queen from RuPauls Drag Race.  Do you love the all out leopard print outfit?  How about the white?  And the pink tulle?  And how about the nude dress with the beading?  Oh I LUV IT ALL !!!  Give me more face!  Work it ladies!!!

Thank you to all the drag queens around the world.  You make me want to be more WOMAN.  I learned how to blend my eye shadow thanks to RuPaul's Drag Race.  Thanks for all the inspiration you give me drag queens around the world!!!

Today's Fashion Flashback for this Summer -- BRIGITTE BARDOT

I  was researching photos of Kate Moss because I was going to feature her as my next Style Icon, and I came across some fabulous style photos for Brigitte Bardot.  I knew she was a sex bombshell/kitten but I had no idea she was such a style icon.  She is my perfect style muse for Summer 2011 as global warming is heating Miami up to HOT, HOT, HOT.  We know Brigitte Bardot, also known as BB, as the smoking HOT, HOT, HOT French sex icon, so what a perfect muse for style for this year's hot Summer.  N'est pas?  Oui.

We know her for her unfussy bedroom hair and sexy pout, but this is not a post about beauty.  This is post about her style.  What I discovered was that she was known for wearing thigh-high boots and micro-mini dresses, striped sailor shirts (which I always love for the Summer,) boho chic (still good to wear, although mimimalism is on the rise,) gingham dresses and outfits, and of course bikinis.   Aside from the thigh-high boots, all perfect for a hot Summer.

I found the perfect video on YouTube highlighting her style.  Check it out...

What I'll be wearing this Summer is definitely striped shirts and bikinis.  I have a gingham mini dress that I'm hoping I'll fit into soon, since I've been working out.  As far as boho is concerned, I'm kinda over it, but I have so much of it in my closet that I may end up wearing some boho this Summer.  I'll try the Brigitte Bardot sexy pout, but I don't do sexy well.  I'm almost laughing just thinking about it.  Anyhoo, I do feel sexier already just by writing this post.

Have a great Summer!  Be hot, but don't get overheated ;-)

It's a Hot, Hot Summer in Miami and It's About to Get Even Hotter...

What am I talking about you say?  Well Season 4 of "True Blood" is about to start this Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time!  I AM SO EXCITED !!!  I feel like my life has been on pause since Season 3 ended last Summer.  Finally, my life can begin again.  I know, I know, you're saying life on pause all for a TV show...  Uhhhh, yesss, it's "True Blood" we are talking about.  Oh the excitement of anticipating the next episode!  That week-long adrenaline rush.  Re-watching the episode you just saw the previous Sunday OnDemand over and over again until you can recite the dialogue exchange.  Am I obsessed?  Probably.  But so what.

So we'll find out where Sookie went when she fantastically disappeared in the cemetary at the end of Season 3.  Oh, we will once again get to see the uber sexy Sheriff of Area 9, Eric.  Please wear more black tank tops this season.  Oh and Alcide will be back.  Ahooooooooo, I howl at the full moon!!!  Why he is only the hottest werewolf to hit this side of the Mississippi.  There will be eye candy for the men too.  I'm sure there will be a nude scene of Sookie, hopefully with Eric, since Bill is out of the picture (I think.)  Pam is, in my opinion, the best eye candy for men with her fierce fashion and wicked one-liners.  She is by far the baddest vampire bitch in Bon Temps.  There is also raven-haired Jessica Hamby.

Yeah, yeah Jason will be back, no doubt cavorting with more white trash.  Shape-shifting Sam will be back too.  I hope his character doesn't go darker, but I'm afraid he's headed in that direction.  I hope Tara finally dies and be done with her stupid character.  The only cool thing about the Tara story line is that my little sister, Michelle, got to be an extra in one of Tara's scenes.  Apparently Tara goes lesbian in Season 4 and is in a lesbian cage fight.  My sister Michelle got to be one of the crazy lesbians in the background hooting and hollering.  I hope my sister is visible in the scene.

As far as Tara's fabulous cousin, Lafayette, he will be central in Season 4 as he and his lover Jesus delve deeper into witchcraft.  Witches are going to be big in Season 4.  I want to see more faeries and know about them too.  We get a glimpse of faerieland in the following clip.  It is the first 8 minutes of Season 4.  Watch...

Oh my gosh !!!  I can't wait.  I'm peeing in my pants RIGHT NOW !!!  Three more days is unbearable!  I don't know how I was able to wait one whole year for Season 4.  Oh, yeah...  I was on "pause."

My Next Hair Inspiration is a Boy -- Alex Trimble...

of the band Two Door Cinema Club.  I love his ginger hair, and I wish I was a gingee.  I used to to have reddish brown hair as a little girl actually.  His haircut is somewhat of an edgier version of the Justin Bieber.  I don't know what his haircut looks like at the moment, but the one I would like to grow my hair out to is the one featured in one of their earliest videos for "Something Good Can Work."

Right now, my bangs are really short for the Summer.  I cut it a little too short my last hair trim two weeks ago.  Although it's time for another trim this week, I am not touching my bangs.  Just the sides and back, possibly tomorrow.

Right now I am obsessed by Two Door Cinema Club's song "Something Good Can Work."  I finally found their video on YouTube a couple of hours ago and have been watching it non-stop, along with their other songs and videos.  This song plays at The Gap where I work and love it every time it plays but didn't know who sang it for the longest time.  Today, I finally could make out a whole line from the hook, so I looked it up on YouTube and lo and behold, the right video finally popped up.  Alas.  After several unsuccessful attempts of looking up this particular song within this year, I at last found the title and the artist.  What a relief!  Now I can go buy their CD (I'm old school when it comes to music -- don't download songs.)

The following video features the haircut I aspire to for the Fall.  Keep your eye on the adorable gingee singing.  Right now, it's too hot to have long bangs on my face.  Makes me sweat unattractively.  More blog posts coming soon about Fall fashion.  'Til then, enjoy my favorite song of the moment.

Today's Style Icon -- MICHELLE WILLIAMS

2006 Academy Awards
Michelle Williams is my style icon for today because simply put, her style is -- AMAZING !!!  With her Best Actress nomination for "Blue Valentine," she has come a long way from Dawson's Creek.  Michelle Williams had small and leading roles in films before, but it was her role in "Brokeback Mountain" where a larger audience really got to see her acting chops.  She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress as Alma Beers, the wife of Heath Ledger's character, Ennis Del Mar.  The mustard-colored dress she wore to the Academy Awards in 2006 put her on the fashion map.  She has really become a style icon of late with her pictures in many, many magazines.

2010 Cannes Film Festival
I love her short hair!  As I continue my obsession with my short haircut, my next inspiration is, of course, Michelle Williams.  My previous hair inspiration was Edie Sedgwick.  Edie was the style icon that inspired me to cut my hair short from the get-go.  I've trimmed my hair three or four times since then.  The next hair trim tomorrow, I will be looking at recent photos of Michelle's do.  Not the pixie haircut she is sporting most recently but the one with long bangs.

Various Events, 2011

She truly is a style muse.  She has lost the baby weight from Dawson's Creek and has emerged as a fashion goddess.   Michelle and her stylist/s are doing an amazing job inspiring us, the common folk.  According to The Stylist Site, Elizabeth Stewart was responsible for Michelle's look for the 2011 Oscars where she was nominated for Best Actress for "Blue Valentine."  I thought her look was one of the standouts that night.  Michelle, along with Cate Blanchett, Nichole Kidman and newcomer Jennifer Lawrence proved that minimalist style is back.

2011 Academy Awards

I'm looking forward to the style inspiration Michelle Williams will continue to bring in the future, and I look forward to seeing her in films and on the red carpet.  Kudos Michelle on your incredible acting and your awesome style !!!

Spring Trend Report: There's Minimalism and There's Everything Goes...

Color-blocking for Spring 2011.
White for Spring 2011.
Bright Ikat prints for Spring 2011.
Minimalism continues to make a presence in the fashion scene, proving that over-the-top may have seen its day.  But fear not (if you like over-the-top,) the designers showed so much variety for Spring 2011 that you'll get your fill of fashion.  Expect to see lots of white (my favorite for Spring and Summer) lots of bright colors and 70's glam-inspired looks.  When it comes to color, bold, solid colors are hot.  It's all about color-blocking.  As far as prints go, there weren't too many florals as we normally expect for Spring, but there were a lot of Ikat and other bold, geometric patterns.  And then, there's fruit.  Fruit prints that is.  There's something for everyone and you can express your fashion personality in so many different ways this coming Spring.

In NY Fashion Week, the "less is more" theme can be seen from many designers.  There was markedly less accessories, but the statement necklace continues to make a presence.  There were long necklaces to be seen, which I am excited about (I need more of those for sure.)  My favorites were Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren.  At Ralph Lauren, the mood was romantic and Victorian with lots of textured whites.  Frank Acosta showed a very sleek collection for Calvin Klein, leading the way for Spring's minimalistic movement.  Alexander Wang brings it with lots of white and a muted color palette of silver, sky blue, and tan.

Paris Fashion Week showed a lot of different styles.  There was basically something for anyone who can afford those duds.  If you can't afford those fabulous Parisian fashions, well simply look to those designers for inspiration.  There was juxtaposition between masculine and feminine dressing going on in Paris.  On the more feminine camp were John Galliano, Channel and Louis Vuitton.  Balenciaga leads the pack of the edgy, masculine camp.  Rick Owens, Celine and Stella McCartney gives us clean, relaxed minimalist versions of a somewhat masculine look.

Of all the fashion weeks, my favorite was the Milan Fashion Week.  I find a lot of inspiration from the Milan RTW runways.  There were a lot of bold colors and a lot of color-blocking, along with whites.    If you are in the mood for simple pops of color, look to Jil Sander for inspiration for a fun, color blocking look.  I love the look of a white topped dress that looks like a t-shirt with a bold, green, to-the-floor skirt.  Prada gives you lots of color-inspiration with modern, crayola colored stripes.  I love the banana earrings she wore at the end of the show.  Very Warhol!  If you are feeling electric, look to Armani's Spring '11 runway show.  You just might be inspired to wear a shocking cobalt blue number.  If you want to look crisp in white, well look to Dolce & Gabbana for ideas.  Somehow, D & G managed to make white look virginal and sexy.  How did they do that you say?  Well with white lace and and other peak-a-boo swaths of white fabric -- brilliant!

With all this anything goes inspiration, one thing is for sure:  I won't be bored this Spring.

Fabulous Inexpensive Lipstick: Covergirl Lip Perfection

Covergirl's new line of lipsticks does not feel anything like what you would expect from a drugstore brand.  It is lightweight, goes on silky smooth and has amazing high pigment color.  It is a guilt-free indulgence and can instantly pick up your look and/or your mood.  If you like a matte-looking lipstick, you'll like Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick.

Looking for a bright pink color, which will be hot for Spring 2011, I found Spellbound (325).  Worn with simple make-up on the eyes and cheeks, let your lips be the focal point with this fun, bold color.  Eternal (350), another bright pink suitable for a darker skin-tone, was featured in the March issue of People StyleWatch.  With a price point of anywhere from $5.50 to $7 something, depending on the store and whether it is on sale or not, you can't go wrong by choosing Covergirl Lip Perfection over other more expensive brands in a similar shade.  Since a bright pink is not an everyday color, for most of us anyway, you won't feel bad spending the less than $10. on a lipstick you may only wear for a season or only a couple of times.  Me, I'm gonna wear out this look.  I love it on me!

As far as shades you can wear every day, there are 44 shades to choose from four groups.  If you like a matte look, this is one I would stock up on.  If not, you may find a couple of shades suitable to your skin tone for those days and/or nights you prefer a matte lip.  For a quick, put-together look, I like to wear reds or a dark lip and little else.  I like the shade Hot Passion (305) from this line, perfect for those days I don't have the time to put on a full face.

Covergirl Lip Perfection claims to "create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days."  I have not worn this brand 7 days in a row to confirm that, but I agree with the claim that it does sustain moisture levels.  My lips do not dry up and chap when I wear this brand.  The color is indeed bright and rich -- you don't need multiple applications to get that rich color.  Although it does not claim to be long-wearing, it actually is.  I work retail and have to talk a lot on the job, and I only have to re-apply when I have a full meal.  I don't have to re-apply when I have snacks or drink water or soda.

I've read other reviews of this new line, and the packaging was frowned upon.  I actually like the sleek, unpretentious design.  The packaging may not be luxurious, but the product in it is luxurious to me.  It feels as indulgent as Lancôme and Estee Lauder.  Another thing that may be criticized about Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick is that it has a taste.  Some say vanilla.  I can't quite pin-point the taste, but tastes like something synthetic to me.  It doesn't bother me though and doesn't taste bad.  It maybe tastes like a futuristic perfume?  I can't pin-point it.  You tell me...  Let me know when you pick up a tube or two of Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick.

My New Cropped Do

I promised on Tuesday that if my haircut that I performed on myself comes out any good that I'd post pics.  Well here is one pic.  I honestly don't know how I got it to turn out this way, but I'm happy with the results.  A little fearlessness and a lot of divine guidance got me a pretty decent haircut.  Gee, thanks me & invisible divine guidance!!!
Today's do was without any hair product.  I can do a whole bunch of styles with this cut.  I just hope it grows out nicely and that I can recreate the cut.  That's the next challenge ;-)  But for now, I reckon I'll be having fun making different styles with my new haircut.  It sure beats my long hair, which I could wear in a ponytail or down.  Wow, two options...  I don't know why I didn't chop my hair short short sooner?

Today's Fashion Flashback -- EDIE SEDGWICK

Today, on my day off, I was looking for some fashion inspiration or some sort of music inspiration on Youtube, and I came across this video tribute to Edie Sedgwick.  It is absolutely brilliant and completely inspirational!!!  In fact, it makes me want to to re-watch 2006's "Factory Girl" starring Sienna Miller as the iconic "poor little rich girl," Edie Sedgwick. Here is the video inspiration I found.

In fact, I've been dieing to chop my hair short, and I bought a Groupon sometime last year for a salon in the Gables, and it's driving me nuts that I can't find it.  It's probably expired by now anyways...  I guess I'm gonna cut my hair short myself.  I'm quite good at cutting my own hair anyway.  Plus, it saves me money.  I'll post pics if my self-haircut comes out decent.
I have been channeling Edie Sedgwick's style for fall.  I recently wore a leopard-print swing coat with a navy and maroon striped sweater underneath with a navy denim pencil skirt.  I felt quite fab in it and got complimented quite a bit that day.  I love Edie's style.  I would say she is my style icon of the past, and Kate Moss is my style icon of the present.  Luv them both !!!

Since minimalism has been back for the Fall and also has a strong presence for the Spring, I will be rocking a Mod-inspired look.  My fashion inspiration will definitely be Edie Sedgwick!  I love how she wore ginormous chandelier earrings which I have quite a bit of right now.

If you would like to know more about Edie Sedgwick, read her Bio here.

She died the year I was born, in 1971, at the age of 28.  She lived a short life but what a presence she had the time she was here with the mortals.  She is forever immortalized in the films Andy Warhol did.  Her vulnerability is part of her charm.  Her bold fashion sense separates her from her then peers, and she was and will be the true 60's "It Girl."  Viva Edie!  I hope you are at peace.
