Alison Mosshart: Artist Extraordinaire

Rock star. Fashion Icon. Muse. And now, painter too.  Is there anything Alison Mosshart cannot do?  I don't think so.  Alison Mosshart oozes talent out of her pores.

I am not surprised to hear that her paintings were recently on exhibit in NYC, in the Chelsea District.  Alison Mosshart, along with 20 other female artists, were on exhibit at ArtNowNY as part of the "Push It" exhibit to showcase female talent.  The exhibit ended just four days ago on the 26th.  Although I am late to find out about this and to share the info, she plans a solo exhibit in her hometown of Nashville, TN later this year.  You might have a chance to check out her art then.

Alison Mosshart uses mixed media (acrylic, pencil and ink) on canvas, paper and fabric.

Alison Mosshart is part of the duo (along with Jamie Hince) behind blues-punk band The Kills, one of my current favorite bands.  I had the pleasure of seeing them live in February 2012 during their 10-year anniversary tour.  She has more recently been collaborating with Jack White with the band The Dead Weather.

Here is one of my favorite songs/videos from The Kills, "Black Balloon."

Today's ROCK Style Icon -- ALISON MOSSHART

I was invited by my best friend to see The Kills in February of this year, and ever since, I have been obsessed with this band.  I am especially digging Alison Mosshart's style.  It is not overtly Rock 'N Roll;  I'd say it's understatedly Rock 'N Roll, but it is definitely rockin'.

I love her layering techniques.  She can rock a graphic tee and layers is with her iconic leopard-print jacket.  Or she'll top off an uber cool T-shirt with a furry jacket or denim shirt.  She is often wearing slim or skinny jeans.  She has great taste in shoes too.

The Kills is made up of Jamie Hince (Kate Moss' husband.) and Alison Mosshart.  They've been around for a while, and they have finally been getting noticed since 2011.  And well deservedly so.  I'm looking forward to seeing The Kills live again, and I'm looking forward to seeing Alison Mosshart in fashion mags and blogs.

For now, I'm inspired by her style.  I'll be layering my graphic T's (I just ordered some nice ones from www.threadless.com) and wearing some cowboy boots.
