Harper's Bazaar Features 2010's Best Dressed
AnaMaria Wilson, Fashion News/Features Director for Harper's Bazaar, compiles the best dressed list each year for the magazine, and this year she is choosing the best dressed among trends such as muted metallics, the little black dress, reds, animal prints and bold color outfits. Who will be Harper's Bazaar best dressed for 2010? Among the contenders are the usual suspects: Sarah Jessica Parker, Chloe Sevigny (Harper's Bazaar favorite), Tilda Swinton (gets my vote! Love her style and fashion ballsiness!), Kate Moss, Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz (Rachel Zoe clients). Some of the new up-and-coming style icons are: Carey Mulligan ("Wallstreet 2: Money Never Sleeps") and Freida Pinto ("Slumdog Millionaire"). To me, all of this year's contenders for Best Dressed are wonderfully stylish, and all of them are worthy of being named HB's Best Dressed 2010.

Today's Cold, Wet Weather in Miami Reminds Me of Morrissey and The Smiths.
Here in Miami, today is a nice day to stay in and snuggle in bed with a good book, movie or magazine. Too bad I have to study for finals. At least I can do the stay indoors part. As with my blog post yesterday, I am not handling the cold weather well this time around.
I just got back from class, and as I prepare to study, I procrastinate by blogging away. I've put together a little playlist to enjoy on a dank, gray day like today. I hope someone, anyone is in the same mood as me, reminiscing of the awesome heyday of Morrissey and The Smiths.
"The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I get" MORRISSEY
"The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" THE SMITHS
"Suedehead" MORRISSEY
"Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" THE SMITHS
"This Charming Man" THE SMITHS
"A Rush And A Push And The Land Is Ours" THE SMITHS
"I Don't Mind If You Forget Me" MORRISSEY
"The Queen Is Dead" THE SMITHS
"Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" THE SMITHS
"Girlfriend In A Coma" THE SMITHS
"The Last Of The Famous International Playboys" MORRISSEY
"Ask" THE SMITHS
"You're The One For Me, Fatty" MORRISSEY
"Panic" THE SMITHS
"Hairdresser on Fire" MORRISSEY
"Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself" MORRISSEY
"Shoplifters Of The World Unite" THE SMITHS
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" THE SMITHS
"Moon River" MORISSEY
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, snore, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, nappy nap time. I love you Morrissey and Johnny Marr and the rest of The Smiths gang. I'm dreaming of drizzle, trench coats, Burberry, and gray trees with no leaves. Snuggle snuggle under my down-filled comforter...

It's Chilly In Miami And I Am Prompted To Buy Outerwear. To My Surprise, KMART Has Wonderful Outerwear.
It's in the 40's today, and I am not prepared. I have jackets and blazers, but no coats or anoraks -- I cleared out my closet this Summer, and I regret getting rid of some Winter items. Note so self: next time, get rid of seasonal items during the same season !!! Darnit ! I know, if you live up North, you are probably laughing right now as you read this, but 40 degrees is cold for us Floridians! I've been in Chicago before in the Winter when it was 10 to 20 degrees, and I tell you, 40 in Miami feels colder than 10 in Chicago! Anyways, I usually enjoy the cold weather when we do get it in Miami, but I am not able to handle it as much this year. Maybe as I get older, I am not able to tolerate it as much -- now I see why senior citizens flock to my part of the country.
I was surprised to find some great deals in outerwear with nice styling at Kmart.com. Of course, I am on a tight budget, and since Miami is not known for its cold weather, I do not want to spend a lot of money on a coat. It would be different if I were to visit my sister in NY this winter, but since I am not, I am looking for a low-end, low cost solution to this recent cold front.
I already know what The Gap has, since I work there, so that is a NO GO. I checked out Old Navy yesterday and nothing long enough. I checked out Banana Republic (which I can use my employee discount there) and nothing that stands out. Then I remembered an ad for Kmart from the August and September issues of magazines that featured on-trend military inspired looks, and that is what I want right now -- a military-inspired long coat. Low and behold, there is so much to choose from, and all under $100 (there is a 50% OFF Sale.) Many have additional mark-downs too. I am where I want to be, that is, Online at Kmart.com (too cold for me to venture to the store today, and besides, I know there is going to be more of a selection Online than any Miami location.)
Online, Kmart offers everything from the military-inspired coat that I want to puffer jackets and coats, stream-lined simple coats, wool trench coats, pea coats, anoraks, etc. Anything and everything that you would want to look for for the Winter is at Kmart.com .
Below are some of the coats I liked. There's lots to choose from, so browse away...

Christian Siriano's Spring '11 Colletion for Payless is kRaZee Good
I've been keeping an eye on Christian Siriano's designer line for Payless for a few seasons now, since 2009. I haven't bought anything yet, but I sure will when his Spring 2011 collection hits Payless stores. It is outstanding! It is from another world. I'm so proud of Christian and how he's proven America and the world that he is Project Runway's SUPERSTAR! His creativity and designs surpass many other upcoming and established designers. His vision and creations are both futuristic and retrospective, but uniquely Christian Siriano. Bravo Christian !!!
The shoes I am coveting coming out in the Spring are the two pictured below. I will certainly be on the lookout and bee-lining to Payless as soon as they come out. Come on Spring, hurry up and get here already! I just hope I can walk in them -- they look pretty high !

Christian Siriano Has a Jewelry Line !!!
Hmnnnnnn. This is very interesting. Just as I am overly ecstatic over Jewelmint, I discover this other site that does the same thing, except it’s not just jewelry but all sorts of accessories. It features Christian Siriano’s new jewelry line: Christian Siriano Jewelry for Send the Trend. Send the Trend works the same way as Jewelmint; it’s like a book-of-the-month club, except it’s for accessories. You only pay when you like the selection they have for you, based on a style quiz you take upon becoming a member. Hmnnnnn, sound familiar??? It’s exactly like Jewelmint! Except it’s not just jewelry but all sorts of accessories. Déjà vu??? I KNOW !
I don’t know which came first, the chicken or the egg, or Jewelmint or Send the Trend, but I like. I did not like anything in my “Gallery” upon joining (equivalent to Jewelmint’s “Showroom.”) The Gallery is the page that features your monthly selections. Just like Jewelmint, it’s as if a stylist has picked out items for you based on your style personality. You set your style personality with your answers to the style quiz. Although I did not like anything in my Gallery, I will definitely keep a lookout for what they have for me each month.
I do love the site. There is a lot of information on what the hottest trends are right now. You can stay on top of trends by reading articles in the “Monthly Trend” tab or the Send the Trend Blog. I think it will be a good source for what’s happening on the streets, style-wise. I look forward to my monthly newsletters and my monthly selections. I didn’t like anything today, but I’m sure there will be something for me in the future.
Christian Siriano's "Regal Estate" Collection for Send the Trend |
Send the Trend features Christian Siriano Jewelry. It is very unique, very Christian and very fierce. I don’t know if it’s my style but we’ll see what his future collections have in store. His Fall collection of jewelry for Send the Trend called Regal Estate is somewhat amorphous and alien-like. It looks cool and nothing I’ve seen before, and as we saw on Project Runway of Christian’s work, very creative.
I signed up to become a member for Send the Trend, but I will not get anything this month. I love that you are not obligated to buy, but I will definitely read what Send the Trend has to say about what’s happening with trends. Check them out, maybe it’s for you.

I am Officially Obsessed With Jewelmint !!!
O.K Got my first shipment from Jewelmint four days after I placed my first order, and I was soooooooo happy with what I saw and received. It definitely looked more expensive than the $29.99 I paid for each piece, and it came beautifully packaged. And here is the update I promised if you want to get more than one selection for the month, since each month you can choose your favorite for 1 credit, which is the $29.99 monthly fee you pay for if you like a selection (again, you pay NOTHING if you don't like anything from the selection they choose for you based on the answers to the style quiz you took.) If you like more than one selection, you simply pay an additional $29.99 for each piece. Simple as that. When you do that, the following month, you get 0 credits, I guess that means you don't have to choose a piece, but like I mentioned previously, you are never obligated to choose a piece if you don't like what you see. However, I predict it will be rare that you will not like anything, since the designs are so modern and unique. I haven't seen these designs in stores or anything similar to it. YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO TAKE THEM UP ON THEIR OFFER. As for me, my first month, I ended up selecting four pieces AND I WANTED MORE, but I think I am a freakish case, since jewelry and accessories are my "obsession."
The bummer is that when the next month's selection comes around, the items you have in your "Showroom" (that's the page where they feature what pieces Jewelmint has selected for you) from the previous month disappears = ( That means if there were items you were thinking about getting also either are no longer available to you or you have to fish it out of their selections by clicking on the "show me more" button or the "Our Designs" quicklink. I did both several times but were not able to retrieve pieces that were in my November Showroom. I was very sad that December creeped up on me and I did not order all the items I wanted from my November selections. I guess, in a way, it's a lesson in being greedy for me. But how can I not be greedy? Their jewelry pieces are so AMAZING !!! I want more and more Jewelmint! I think it's officially "my precious," and I am now the crazed Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
Check out my two other precious selections from November. I am rubbing my hands together as we speak, as I wait for its arrival via USPS.

The Gap is Getting Cool Again
Being a Gap Inc. employee for about four years now, I've seen changes in the styles we carry and who our target customer is. The Gap is still known for it's basics but what some people don't know is that the Gap is now carrying trendier pieces again.
This fall I've seen quite a change in the styles and products available to customers. No longer is the Gap just a t-shirt and jeans company. There is the the Gap Black Pants Collection, available since late Summer, perfect for a day at the office then meeting up with friends after work. Gap is right on trend with neutrals for Fall (See my blog on Neutrals is What Fall 2010 is All About). Gap is carrying a lot of black and gray with splashes of nude and cream, but unlike the runway collections with many designers doing head to toe neutrals, the Gap still provides colors as it always has. After all, the Gap is known for its items in different colors like the turtleneck in five or six colors or the basic T for men in an abundance of colors to choose from. The Gap still has the basics but now also offers trendier pieces so that you don't have to go to Urban Outfitters or Forever 21 for fun, trendy pieces. Now you can get your basics and splash it up with up-to-the-minute fashion forward pieces all at one store.
I'm personally dieing for a sequined jacket that's part of the Shine Collection for the holidays. It's supposed to come into stores either this week or next. It's going to fly off the racks when it comes into stores -- so many customers are asking about it.
I'm excited for these changes. I look forward seeing how Gap evolves, and I'm glad Gap is being more fashion-forward and trend-right.

My Destination for Everyday Holiday Bling is Claire's.
'Tis the season to shine and sparkle, so what better way to do it than by accessorizing and blinging up your look. My favorite for everyday flare are these hairpins and rhinestone bracelet to add when layering bracelets. Claire's carry these sparkly accessories year-round, but now is especially a great time to buy a few to add some everyday glitter to your holiday look. There is really no need for coupons when shopping at Claire's since everything is so affordable, but they are giving $10 Holiday Bucks every time you spend $20. These Holiday Bucks can be redeemed between Nov 28 and Dec 12 of this year and works this way: "Take $10 off a purchase of $20 or more (pre-tax)."
I prefer shopping at the actual store than online, since you really need to get a good look at the products. Some can really look chintzy and can ruin and cheapen your look; however, there are finds in every Claire's store. You just have to be patient and scan their potentially overwhelming walls of accessories.
Their target market is rather young, but I've found items in there that were appropriate for me, a late 30's gal. If you have a daughter/s, y'all can have a lot of fun together at your nearest Claire's -- it is total girlie world.
Above were my recent finds to add to my everyday holiday look. |
I used the rhinestone bracelet to add to some bracelets I use often. The charm bracelet, I wear that about 4 times a week. (See my blog on how to How to Layer Jewelry ) |

Raise Your Online Shopping I.Q. By Shopping Through EBATES.
Actor Greg Grunberg, co-founder of yowza. |
I have always been a firm believer in coupons even before I completed my degree in Advertising. When used properly and wisely, it can save you hundreds of dollars. I used to clip coupons as a kid when I had no money to even buy stuff with. I was about ten years old, and I remember being so excited for the Sunday paper, not for the information in it but for all the cool coupons included in the massive Sunday paper. I used to clip coupons in hopes that my parents would use them. I don't remember if they did or not, but I sure remember the good ol' times I had flipping through them and clipping the coupons for products we used often and clipping the ones I hoped my parents would buy like the really sugary cereals. My parents never used those coupons since breakfast was usually SPAM sandwiches (hey what can I say, I am a true Filipino, and boy do Filipinos love SPAM. I still love SPAM sandwiches.) I'll do a future blog on really cool coupon sites, but I need to do more research on that topic.
OK, back to EBATES... Well, I used it today on RachelRoy.com. Two months after that customer told me about EBATES, I remembered to check out EBATES before checking out from RachelRoy.com. I wasn't sure about how EBATES worked -- the gist I got from that dude was that it was online rebates and coupons, so I went to the site to see if there were any for Rachel Roy. Low and behold there listed were promos for Rachel Roy and 2.5% cash back through EBATES. Oooooooooooooooh, me likes cash back.
The neat thing too is that all the online stores I normally browse and shop from are included: Target, Walmart, Amazon, eBay, Piperlime, you name it -- it's on EBATES. Also, the cash back percentages vary. I saw one for 35% cash back; too bad it's not a site I normally browse. The 2.5 % cash back from Rachel Roy that had me jumping up and down was actually on the very low end, but I'll still take it!
So if you are going to be doing any online shopping this holiday season, why don't you get cash back for it? Then use your Discover card and get cash back from that too! There you go. You have additional knowledge on some smart online shopping. Happy shopping, and stay safe during the crazy holiday shopping season -- stay indoors and do some online shopping! NOW GO GET SOME CASH BACK WITH EBATES. (Me smiling while one tooth sparkles. LOL.)
p.s. I ended us saving 20% off my purchase from RachelRoy.com, got an additional $20 OFF by signing up to receive e-mails, got FREE shipping and got my 2.5% cash back through EBATES. BUYA !!! Now that is a deal.

Just Became a Member of jewelmint
Kate Bosworth wearing jewelmint piece for November named Celestial Wreath Necklace |
I heard about it today from my daily e-mail fashion update The Zoe Report, Rachel Zoe's very awesome daily fashion spotlight. Each day, Rachel highlights an item, be it a piece of clothing, accessory or beauty product. Sometimes she'll spotlight something for the home or a fashionable techie gadget. Today, she spotlighted jewelmint. Being a lover of gemstones and jewelry, I immediately clicked on the link. And a shining light and chorus of angels accompanied my first glimpse of the Website, www.jewelmint.com . I knew I was in jewelry heaven.
I learned that for only $29.99 a month, you get a fabulous piece of jewelry each month. The prices are always 70% off, and what I saw was
A M A Z I N G -- on trend pieces and very beautiful, covetable pieces of fashion jewelry. Each piece is valued at over $100, but you pay only $29.99 for each piece. For any month you don't make a selection, you pay NOTHING. It's the brainchild of Kate Bosworth and her stylist, Cher Coulter who is also a designer. Based on the style quiz you do upon joining, the selections presented to you are based on what you answered on the style quiz. Basically they only present to you what would suit your taste and style. Why, it's like having a stylist !

Missing Brit Pop & REVOLVER Lately
I miss those days at Revolver, this recurring Friday night party I used to go to from 2000 up to 2005 (I think) where I listened and danced to retro classics from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and good tunes from this decade. This blog is an homage to those good ol' days. I wonder what Josh, the creator of that wonderful extravaganza of musical delights is doing nowadays? He was so creative and dynamic getting all those DJ's, musicians and other artists together. What was the door-guy's name??? Oh, what I especially miss are the brave people who wore outrageous outfits, especially that guy who showed up one night in a cow costume. Yeah, you read that right -- a cow costume, and no, it was not Halloween. I miss getting dressed up in wacky outfits too. And there was my favorite DJ, Alex. He was my musical soulmate, I'm pretty sure of it.
Oh, Revolver, where art thou ??? You'll always be in my heart, dear Revolver... (OK, I may be having a mid-life crisis. LOL.)
I hope someone enjoys these tunes from days of old. I included some tunes that might be played at Revolver now, if it were to exist today. Enjoy, whoever you are, wherever you are...
"Bittersweet Symphony" THE VERVE
"Creep" RADIOHEAD (I feel so lucky to have gotten to see Radiohead perform this song in the 90's, just when they were making it big in the US, in a venue very similar to that in the video.)
"Paint It Black" ROLLING STONES
"Light My Fire" THE DOORS
"Groove Is In The Heart" DEE LITE
"Girls and Boys" BLUR (This is such a fun song to dance to!)
"Change" TEARS FOR FEARS
"Hotel Yorba" WHITE STRIPES
"Satisfaction" ROLLING STONES
"Y Control" YEAH YEAH YEAHS
"Suedehead" MORRISSEY
"Regina" THE SUGARCUBES

"Intergalactic" THE BEASTIE BOYS
"Shout" THE BEATLES
"Teenage Riot" SONIC YOUTH
"De Luxe" LUSH
"Soon" MY BLOODY VALENTINE
"Cecilia" SIMON & GARFUNKEL
"Last Night" THE STROKES
"Give, Give, Give Me More, More, More" THE WONDER STUFF
"Getting Away With It" ELECTRONIC
"Bang a Gong (Get It On)" T REX (This is so fun to dance to. I need a lot of dance space for this one! And it's from the year I was born. How do ya them apples?)

9 By Design - Photo Galleries - Rate the Room - Episode 8: Rate the Room | Bravo TV Official Site
9 By Design - Photo Galleries - Rate the Room - Episode 8: Rate the Room | Bravo TV Official Site
Love this design duo !!! Check out how their hotel project went from beginning to end. No news yet on when Season 2 will air, but I cannot wait. I want to see the Novogratzes NOW !!! It is amazing how they create marvelous spaces and balance their work with their large family.
They are so inspiring and entertaining. Their kids are so cute and so well-adjusted. None of them seem to be brats. And how many kids do they have, you may ask??? Well, 7 of course! Hence the title of the show "9 By Design" for the number of people in their family. They have 2 sets of twins, so Courtney Novogratz gave birth only 5 times. LOL. I said only 5 times. YIKES, that's a lot of times, but it's better than giving birth 7 times.
If you have never seen any of their shows, I highly recommend you catch up right before Season 2 airs when Bravo will probably run a "9 By Design" marathon. I'll keep you posted.

I am GAGA Over Lady Gaga!
You may love her or you may hate her, well I happen to be GAGA over her. No one is more fierce when it comes to fashion conviction and bravery, not even Madonna or any other pop queen or princess is as fierce. Not even RuPaul or any other drag queen is as fierce, and those ladies ARE FIERCE! You may think that she does all the outrageous things/fashion for attention, as my father thinks she is an attention whore and that she must have been abandoned as a child, but nothing is further from this notion.
Born on March 28, 1986 as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, Lady Gaga was born to parents Joseph Germanotta and Cynthia Bissett as the oldest of two children. She comes from a loving family and she wrote "Speechless" for her father urging him to get an Aortic Valve Surgery, an open-heart surgery, which he eventually did (Lady Gaga Interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. November 27th 2009). In the same interview, she stated missing her parents while on tour. Isn't that sweet?
Lady Gaga's fame has skyrocketed in less than 3 years, but she is not an overnight success as many think she is. She has been playing the piano since age 4, wrote her first ballad at 13 and by 14, she was performing at open-mike nights. She played NYC clubs all throughout her teen years. At age 17, she was one of 20 students around the globe that was admitted to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts early admission program. That is a feat in itself, since it takes amazing talent and smarts to get into Tisch, not to mention early admission. While an NYU student, she fine-tuned her writing skills. After a year and a half, she dropped out to focus on her music career. And since then, she has been working hard and diligently to get to the point where she is now. She attributes never giving up to "having a good mother" (Lady Gaga Interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. May 12th, 2009) Lady Gaga Biography
She inspires me to be the FREAK that I am, and she knows what it feels like to be a freak. She was an outsider in high school. I can imagine with her going to the Roman Catholic Private School, Sacred Heart, in NYC's Upper East Side. She says she was picked on and talked about for "being either too provocative or too eccentric, so I started to tone it down. I didn’t fit in, and I felt like a freak" (Lady Gaga Biography from Wikipedia). She has also quoted that "I was the arty girl, the theater chick" (Biography for Lady Gaga: imdb.com). I can relate to both of these quotes. Like Lady Gaga, I was the arty girl in High School, and although I was never really picked on, I was talked about in "not" a nice way. I too was an outsider that was really into fashion and getting dressed up for school; unlike Lady Gaga, I did not have to wear a uniform, so I got to do it up 80's style, as I am much older than Gaga. She is 23, and I am 38. Hey, even an oldie can be into Lady Gaga.
I admire her fashion ballsiness. Nothing is too outrageous for her, and boy can she wear those designer creations. I love Thierry Mugler on Lady Gaga as she wore his creation in the "Paparazzi" video. It was like she was the one meant to wear that metallic outfit. She looks great in Mugler's creations!
Another thing I admire about Lady Gaga is her love and support of her fans. I love that she encourages her fans to love and embrace themselves, no matter how different they are, whether they are freaks or not. She is truly appreciative of her fans; this is evident as she sang "Teeth" on the TODAY show IN THE RAIN! "Teeth" on The Today Show, July 10, 2010. She was asked if she still wanted to sing her last song since it was raining, and she responded with a yes because her fans camped out for two days to see her. That is dedication to her fans! She even provided pizza and refreshments to those who camped out. Who else does that??? She is thoughtful and truly kind.
She is far from a fame or attention whore as some might surmise. In an interview with Meredith Viera, when discussing the downside of fame, Lady Gaga states "the kind of fame that I cherish is the relationship that I have with my fans, which is so pure and so wonderful..." http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2010/07/lady-gaga-you-and-i-today-show-video.html She is not into herself and just wants to give of herself. Gaga is simply sharing her talents with the world. Her positive, all accepting point of view is a gift she has given to the world. Her fame will help to push the envelopes of acceptance and loving our fellow human beings.
She is not calculating the riches she may earn as a Pop Star. I've heard her say in several interviews that all the money she makes goes to her costumes and her shows. She just wants to provide her fans the best experience. She is an altruist, and I don't know of any musician or performer that cares more for her fans than Lady Gaga. Also, she is always thankful for her fans. If you view her performances and interviews on YouTube or any other source, she always thanks her fans or says how she loves her fans.
Gaga is an artist of the highest caliber. No one is more relevant to the current times than Lady Gaga. She expresses herself and her vision and is true to herself. She pays homage to musicians and Pop Stars of the past and present, yes that's true, but her interpretation is uniquely Lady Gaga. She understands pop culture well. She is here to stay and will make her mark for many years to come. She is vintage, contemporary and futuristic all at the same time, and I am willing to gamble that she is redefining the concept of "timeless." The Beatle's, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Madonna -- all these icons have become timeless. Lady Gaga will be sure to join these great figures of our Pop Culture.
She is many things but at the top of that list is "true performer." She sings LIVE -- not lip synching to her own songs. She writes and/or co-produces her own music. She dances, and wickedly at that. And most importantly, she directs her own image; she does collaborate with friends and kindred spirits and designers, but for the most part she lives the vision she has for herself for that day, that song, that video.
What's up next for Lady Gaga??? Well her 3rd Album, of course. It is already complete but since she is currently in the middle of The Fame Monster Tour and still plenty of singles to release from that album, I'm sure, her 3rd album isn't slated to be released until 2011. Maybe March or April. She has mentioned that she plans to announce the title on New Years's Eve of this year at MIDNIGHT with a tattoo somewhere on her body (Lady Gaga Biography from Wikipedia). Watch out world!
2011 will be GAGA DOMINATION !!!

Vampire Movie "Let Me In" is Coming This Fall
Another thing to look forward to in the Fall is the release of "Let Me In," the American remake of the highly acclaimed Swedish film, "Let the Right One In." It's official release date is October 1st, 2010 and is currently in post-production. http://www.filmofilia.com/2010/01/08/let-me-in-release-date/
Both films are based on the successful Swedish novel, “Lat den Ratte Komma In.”
I loved "Let the Right One In" so much that I will be skeptical watching "Let Me In." I'm still excited to see it, but in the back of my mind I'll be thinking "this can't possibly be better than the original Swedish version." If you haven't seen the Swedish version yet, I suggest you not watch it until you've seen the American version. That way, if you like the American version, you can look forward to seeing the highly acclaimed Swedish original, which I've said before will be a classic for many, many years. "Let the Right One In" -- Best Vampire Movie Ever!
I am obsessed with vampires and werewolves and thoroughly enjoying Season 3 of "True Blood." It's not the blood and gore that I like, but the romanticism involved in telling the story of eternal love that is usually a part of vampire/werewolf stories. You may have heard of "Twilight?" I rest my case. Although, I am not a big "Twilight" fan, I've got to say the love saga between Edward and Bella is pretty sexy. Oh and there's that werewolf kid with 0 % body fat causing this Team Edward vs. Team Jacob thing. Aaahhh, only in vampire/werewolf movies. I am still swooning over Michael Sheen in "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" -- he was so hot! He can turn me into his she-wolf bitch any day. His co-star, Chest Hair, was pretty sexy too. SNARLLLL, yeah baby, yeah !
"Let Me In" will also have a touching coming-of-age love story, but I won't spoil the movie for you. This is surely one to watch in October. I think I know what I'm going to be for Halloween... Something with fangs, for sure.

My Latest Favorite Designer -- Rachel Roy
Ever since I saw the display window this Summer at Macy's of Rachel Roy's lower end line, hailed RACHEL RACHEL ROY, I have been in fashion love. The giant hoop earrings emblazoned with the word "love" in antiqued gold-tone caught my eye, and that was it. The RACHEL RACHEL ROY line IS my fashion soul mate.
Rachel Roy's lower end line is only available at Macy's and is very affordable for the average gal. But just because it's on a lower price-point doesn't mean it doesn't have that mix of urban edge and femininity that Rachel Roy is known for. The window display coincided with the "Sex in The City 2" opening, and the film and the RACHEL RACHEL ROY style go hand in hand -- there's a knowing sophistication and often flight of fancy that both Carrie Bradshaw and the RACHEL RACHEL ROY line embody. Perfect for a quirky, urban girl like me.
What I love the most are the accessories! Of course, I would love the accessories, but really, they speak to me. O.K. I'm sounding like a crazy person, but don't most people sound crazy when they're in love? Well, aside from the "love" earrings I first saw on the Macy's display window, her other jewelry for the Summer collection is truly to die for. That is if you are edgy, ballsy, got chutzpah, you get the idea... I can't wait to see what's in store for Fall!
Anyhoo, I don't want to get carried away with my fashion true love. Here is a Fall 2010 preview of Rachel Roy's high-end line, Rachel Roy New York, to get a taste of her fashion flavor. Enjoy.
